What the A380 being my favorite plane is no secret, that the companies at the outbreak of covid have taken a crab deciding to decommission the Jumbo will go down in history as a Bad industrial decision based on the most flawed predictions Since the birth of analysts, that the few companies that have been able to backtrack have saved budgets is a fact.
However, if you think about theA380 one has only one operator in mind and that is Emirates. The Dubai-based airline was the only Airbus customer that really believed in this model, found the recipe and made the money (lots of it) by flying this giant around the world.
The latest manufactured giants arrived in Dubai at the height of the pandemic, and Emirates was the only company that pushed for the program not to be shut down, the only carrier to To have talked with the French manufacturer for the A380neo version to be produced.
Today there are about 30 A380s still stuck in the pits after the pandemic, it is not easy to reignite the engines and fly these giants. EK is engaged on two fronts. Getting all its A380s back in the air and simultaneously outfitting the new premium economy cabins, and more, across the fleet. Emirates currently operates nearly 90 A380s, with more set to enter active service in the coming months. Last year, the airline launched its retrofit program, with 67 A380s slated for refurbishment in each cabin class, in addition to the installation of new Premium Economy Class cabins. So far, 16 aircraft have been upgraded and are now in full commercial service.
The work, which is already underway, is in line with the airline's commitment to quality and ensures that customers can enjoy its products and services on board for years to come.
Sir Tim Clark, chairman of Emirates Airline, said, "The A380 has been and will continue to be an integral part of Emirates' history. Its size and capacity have enabled Emirates to unlock growth at some of the world's busiest airports, opening up new opportunities for travelers. ", and substantially high standards for passenger comfort. Our continued commitment to and confidence in the A380 is why we are investing heavily to keep the fleet in tip-top shape and condition. The A380 will remain fundamental to our network and customer proposition for the next decade And we want to ensure that our fleet is in top shape."
Lufthansa Technik will provide basic maintenance services (BMS) for the airline's A380s and provide additional C-checks for the aircraft over the next three years. The C-checks will be performed by Lufthansa Technik Philippines (LTP) in Manila. Lufthansa Technik's competence center for maintenance services based in Manila has already carried out numerous extensive checks on Emirates' A380s since January this year. Emirates has also signed a master landing gear agreement with Lufthansa Technik for its future overhaul requirements.
