Hampton Inn Rome East. top location and ok room, but breakfast is a fail (but not a problem)

One of the myths I try to dispel whenever I can is the one that when you say Hilton (or Marriott, or other chains) you immediately think of luxury facilities, 5-star hotels and nabob prices. Absolutely the wrong thing in the world, and the proof is this Hampton Inn, one of two in Rome and the only two establishments with this sign in Italy.
In this article:
The Hampton Inn are what we would have called "the Agip motel" in the 1990s. i.e., facilities where you cut corners and where price is the force that attracts visitors, although I must say this facility surprised me because it is much better than I expected.
Reservation
Of course, I booked from the APP, prices in Rome have skyrocketed to unbelievable levels, sleeping in the capital has become a luxury, and I'm not just talking about the most renowned establishments, but also the mid-level ones. This is the reason that prompted me to book a night in this hotel rather than downtown.
Did you get your flight cancelled, miss your connection, land late?
You could get up to 600€ compensation per person
Of course I had to rent the car in Fiumicino, But I took advantage of a series of promos and spent very little, less than what I would have spent between Fiumicino express a/r and cab rides to my appointments.
Eventually I spent 88€ to sleep one night when other central facilities were well above 200.
Location
I am not a Roman, I do not visit Rome often, so I do not know areas or neighborhoods. Just saying that this hotel is easy to reach from the GRA., and from the hotel you can travel to the city comfortably. It is not isolated; it has a shopping center nearby with several restaurants and (I think) also a multiplex cinema.
Free parking and in front of the entrance (with even free charging columns) , so great product for a 3* hotel.
Check-in and room
Unfortunately, I have arrived at the worst time to check in., a bus of Asian tourists had just arrived. Not only getting oriented, but also being able to take the elevator was a challenge.
In the U.S., where it originated, this chain is a step above motels, and the main difference is that they are also located in central NY. In Italy as mentioned there are only two, recently opened, and they are in Rome.
The room is basic. there are no Hints of design as in the Mottos nor social spaces to entertain with friends like the Doubletrees. PS if you like my Level8 aluminum trolley you can get it at a super discount using TFC10 Or take advantage of black friday deals.
This Hampton, however, is a cut above its American "peers"-obviously the fact that it is new plays into the hands of this facility, but everything is in the room and everything is still "fresh."
The bathroom is also basic, but it has everything you need and zero plastic. Which I greatly appreciate, although then housekeeping has to remember to refill the water bottles.
The view from my room immediately intrigued me, and so I discovered the "secret" and special side of this hotel.
Village of Mysticism
Adjacent to the hotel is a small wellness complex with several facilities, including a restaurant and a swimming pool. An event venue, however, that is partially serving hotel guests as well.
There is a lounge bar and a swimming pool, accessible for a fee for hotel guests, as well as other services offered. In the evening when I returned to the hotel there were guests enjoying a bath in complete solitude. Truly a luxury for a facility that usually offers nothing like this.
The next morning I asked about the swimming pool and it was explained to me that it does not belong to the hotel, but is contracted. It is charged for hotel guests and that those with Diamond status can instead have free access, I don't remember if it is also free for gold, but it certainly is for those with the highest level of the Hilton Honors loyalty program.
Breakfast
The Hamptons is one of the Hilton signs that offers breakfast included to all guests, and I must say it was a very bad experience.
Okay it's free, or rather it's included, but that doesn't mean you have to go that low. Of course if I compare with what they offer in the US it was a feast, but even aesthetically it was not pleasing the small buffet.
Not to mention that gl spaces to have breakfast are few and I could not find a place (free and clean) to eat something.
In conclusion
Very satisfied and will definitely stay there again, if the breakfast problem was solved it would really be a perfect facility for this level of product/service. The gem of the park with swimming pool and play space is really a major plus That alone is worth 2 points on the final judgment.
