Small premise, I concentrate almost all my experiences in hotels from two chains: Marriott and Hilton. Of course when I find no alternative  in these two insignia I also point out, but since status is important to me I do everything to accumulate points and qualifying nights on these two brands. One of my 2024 goals will be to also explore other brands And try to see what the competition offers

Location

This hotel is located in the Sukhumvit Road area, within walking distance of other Marriott Group facilities such as the Westin Grande e the Aloft I have already visited and reviewed. In case of beer cravings or hunger attacks. Has a direct entrance from Hooters Bangkok.

Less than 5 minutes away is the BTS, the subway that runs on the monorail, and on foot you can reach all of Bangkok's hottest nightlife areas, and if you want to walk a little more, even all of the city's major shopping malls such as Siam Paragon.

Reservation

The night before arriving in BKK, I realized I had made a mistake in making a reservation and so, thanks to flexible fares I was able to cancel and rebook.

I should not have stayed in this hotel, but in the end the price of 103 euros for one night was competitive and I decided to try it.

The hotel

The structure Is not new, but was renewed during the covid period And I have to say it's really beautiful.

The hotel is divided into two 8-story towers. On top of the two respective towers are the swimming pool, with an attached bar and a mock garden in addition to the gym in the other. The common areas are concentrated on the ground floor, which in addition to the lobby also houses the restaurant hall where breakfast is offered in the morning.

The pool is tiny, but In Bangkok all the hotels have more or less the same pool, the only exception among those in the city center The Conrad, which offers a large pool area that can accommodate many more guests Of all the other "Rooftop pools" in the city.

In addition to the pool (open until 10 p.m.) there is also a bar open until 11 p.m.

Check-in and room

Upon arrival I was greeted by a beautiful Thai smile. A little chat to talk about the holiday week, my stay was sandwiched between the King's birthday (July 28) and an important religious holiday 1/2 August. In the first case just a public holiday, in the second case just one, of many, very heartfelt holidays for the Buddhist population that has the small flaw of "making the nation alcohol free" for two days.

A few moments and then I was already in my stana, on the 10th floor. All very fast also because I was traveling light only with my aluminum Level8 suitable for being Carried on board as carry-on baggage, but sturdy for embarkation Without fear of finding it in a thousand pieces,

Large room, with equally large bathroom. There is a trend in hotels that I am encountering more and more, the bathroom with a view.

Certainly not the kind of view that Bruno Barbieri likes, and I don't even remember seeing the paper band to indicate the sanctification of the toilet, another thing that the star of 4 hotels and other successful TV forms likes instead.

The room is much better than I expected, Four Points is a budget sign, a lite version of what you find in the Sheratons, but here it seems to me something more is offered than what you would expect from this family of hotels. King bed and plenty of space. Ever-present mega smart TV, a comfortable desk to work at, and lots of multiple outlets that don't force the guest to have 10 adapters in their suitcase.

A stocked bar fridge, with even several snacks and many free glass bottles around the room.

Also waiting for me was a small welcome gift with a fruit basket, with a welcome message.

Bathroom as mentioned large with bathtub and separate shower. Of course for the shy there is always the option to close the wall. In addition to the fruit basket and peanuts I was also offered two vouchers for as many drinks in the Rooftop bar by the pool.

The room equipment obviously included the classic package such as ironing board and iron, safe, and also many "optional " items in the bathroom such as creams, mouthwash, toothbrushes--items that save distracted travelers.

Breakfast

Breakfast in Thailand, but perhaps we should say in Asia, never disappoints. Pretty, colorful and very bright environment.

The offer is average, not at the level of other facilities, but one should not forget that in Europe or the U.S. in these facilities the breakfast is definitely worse.

I could have chosen points instead of breakfast, but in this case. 500 points can be sacrificed in exchange for an all-day battery-charging meal.

In conclusion

As I wrote in the title this is the best budget property in Bangkok by Marriott and beyond. Hilton's two Doubletrees cost on average a 30% more, sure they are also a step higher, but there is not that much difference in service level here the discriminating factor is loyalty to one or the other brand.

The verdict
It takes half a point more than the Aloft for price. Now that rates are back to normal and not low because of covid this facility is (almost) always cheaper than the others, but it is by no means inferior to the others.
