The journey to make Rome's airports increasingly innovative and sustainable continues. An important new milestone has been added in this direction: from today at the Leonardo da Vinci, the nation's main airport, the new "ADR e-move" parking lot is available. Located on the second floor of the Terminal B multi-storey parking lot, "ADR e-move" is the first and largest parking lot in Italy reserved exclusively for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, has 74 total stalls that will double in 2024.
The 37 22Kw columns are capable of charging an electric car in 4-5 hours and a hybrid in 2 hours, timing aligned with the parking habits of customers in multi-story parking lots. The parking lot has dedicated entrances and exits and allows customers to be able to park their cars and carry out a full electric recharge, as well as the ability to associate payment with the parking toll via the entrance ticket, online booking and the easyParking App that can be downloaded from the stores and is already on the world's leading e-roaming platform HUBJECT.
Aeroporti di Roma is constantly striving to achieve ever-higher levels of environmental sustainability, with the goal of zeroing its emissions (Scope 1 and 2) by 2030 and progressively reducing emissions related to airport activity (Scope 3). Specifically, the initiative launched today aims to reduce the load of emissions related to airport accessibility, namely those generated by passengers. It is within this framework that ADR Mobility, the ADR Group company that is responsible for the development and management of mobility services at Rome's airports, has chosen to embark on a true "green transition," and as part of the more general program to expand the supply of parking for electric vehicles at the airport, it is a player in the e-mobility in the roles of both Charging Point Operator and Mobile Service Provider.
The new parking lot charging points, which are in addition to the 8 ultra-rapid charging stalls already at the airport, were inaugurated today in the presence of ADR's Chief Commercial Officer Marilena Blasi, ADR Mobility CEO Antonio Fraccari, Motus-e Secretary General Francesco Naso, ANIASA (National Association of the Car Rental, Sharing mobility and Automotive digital Industry) DG Giuseppe Benincasa and AIPARK DG (Italian Association of Parking and Mobility Operators) Laurence Bannerman. ADR e-move re-enters in the larger project to install 5,400 electric charging points by 2031.
"Today Aeroporti di Roma has taken another step toward decarbonization. The path is still long and challenging, but we are already seeing the first results, which, in the short term, will lead to the construction of three new photovoltaic systems in our hub, including one right in the Lunga Sosta parking lot. In addition, the installation of the charging stations will further improve the passenger experience at our airports, which will also make it easier for electric vehicles to reach our airports through digitally bookable charging stations," said ADR's Chief Commercial Officer Marilena Blasi.
"After the installation of 8 ultrafast DC charging infrastructures on the airport roadway from July to December 2022 with 100 kW per outlet, the inauguration of this parking lot is another step in the journey of simplifying in charging their vehicles of our passenger, companion and rent a car operator customers. This is a definite positioning of ADR Mobility in the e-mobility value chain with the dual role of CPO and e-MSP," said ADR Mobility CEO Antonio Fraccari.
