As I wrote at the beginning of the year I finally decided to use An app to keep track of my flights, past and future, and shortly after installing it I regretted not doing it sooner.
Now that we have reached the end of the year, it is time to look at the numbers and see what the App in the Air rankings tell me.
The first thing that emerges is that there are "normal people" who travel, proportionally, much more than I do. Some people like Stan, which made me scropriate the App that has spent 321 hours in the air, touching 220K km during 2023 alone. My friend Vinicio, based in Dubai, also over 300 hours. Over 200k km flown in my contact list I have 6 people, not a few.
Statistics in hand, it was February, with 16 routes, where I flew the most. While October and December the one where I flew the least. Simple in October I was on vacation, while in December I hardly moved from home. "Christmas with your folks..."
One of my 2024 goals was. Flying on the highest number of A380s possible and I ended up doing 6 legs + 1 aboard the giant of the skies. I say +1 because the flight from Dubai to Hong Kong stopped in Bangkok first, so it's like an extra flight.
The most surprising ranking, however, is that I did almost 10% of my flights aboard the 777/300, as many as on the A220/300. The baby Airbus is not only the only aircraft that Should take me to Riga with airBaltic, but it is becoming increasingly popular throughout Europe and beyond. This year I have flown on those of ITA, Swiss, Air France, and of course airBaltic.
The nice thing about this app is to be useful in everyday life, but also to allow challenges with friends with a dash of gamification for the orphans of Foursquare with its badges and stamps in the virtual passport.
In total, I visited 28 countries this year, I really regret not importing my flight "history," it would have helped me keep an exact count of the nations visited. Considering all the routes and stopovers I have been to 5 continents, excluding Antarctica, I have not been right in Oceania, but I came (very) close with Bali.
Of course if you want to "hunt me down" you can download the app and add The Flight Club among your friends and share the statistics and you're done, also because the app is free.
