According to Google Maps in 2023, I went (almost) 8 times around the world

If you think Google, Facebook & co spy on you better not read this article, if, on the other hand, like me you think that location services can be useful, even years later then read this article.
In the past few days I received the email summarizing my 2023 of Google Maps, every month BigG sends me a summary email, but the most interesting one is the one in January where it sends the recap of the whole year just ended.
Because I always have localization on
Obviously this is a very personal matter, there are those who do not want to make their movements known and those who like to have a drawer where, in case of need they go to fetch Where he was on such a day at such a time. I belong to this second type of people.
Traveling a lot I sometimes see a place, eat at a restaurant and then years later find myself in the area again and wanting to go back to where I had already been. I dream of going back to eat a sandwich in Miami in the same diner where I was in 2018, but cases are also of imminent need, e.g. nn the summer of 2022 I was in Sydney for my first world tour, thanks to Maps (and people's civility) I found the backpack I had left at a coffee shop where I had stopped for coffee.
Or I once got a speeding ticket, but I was somewhere else at that same time and thus discovered that they had cloned my license plate, without the history it would have been impossible for me to find out, I would have simply paid the fine.
My 2023
I have already written about How did my 2023 go in terms of flights, a statistic obtained thanks to App in the air. The Maps one is a similar statistic, but different. Sure it also tracks air travel, but it doesn't record all of them (I have no idea why and I'm not even going to add them by hand). I like it because it keeps track of all the movements I do when I'm out and about.
This year, according to statistics I drank a beer in at least 30 different countries. There were 4 nations visited for the first time: Norway and Bulgaria in Europe, Oman and the Philippines in the rest of the world.
I'm just sorry that I hadn't activated this feature right away., above is the map of my 2022, otherwise I would have an exact count of the countries I have visited in my lifetime. This year I'm definitely going to move closer toward 100 since at the moment I am already certain to visit Bangladesh, South Korea, Cambodia, Laos, Taiwan and Brunei in Asia for the first time, Kuwait in the Middle East, and (proably) I should add a couple of destinations in Africa in the second half of the year.
