There is, of course, also Japan Airlines, in the list of the 25 safest airlines in the world compiled by the specialized website airlineratings.com.
Which since 2013 has recognized A score out of seven stars (the highest safety rating) to nearly 400 airlines based on a number of elements including fatality accidents that occurred in the previous 5 years, accidents related to pilot error also in the previous 5 years, inspections by government and aviation agencies passed successfully, average age of the fleet, and crew training.
Which companies are the safest in the world
In a world like today's air transport where, as demonstrated by the'Tokyo incident of Jan. 2, even the worst-case scenario can be resolved without any fatalities or serious injuries, the companies that also for 2024 have obtained 7-star ratings are many.
However, in the report it produces at the beginning of each year, airlineratings.com also highlighted for 2024 a top 25 safest airlines, leading Air New Zealand followed by Qantas and Virgin Australia.
The top 10 is rounded out by Etihad Airways, Qatar Airways, Emirates, All Nippon Airways, Finnair (first in Europe), Cathay Pacific, and Alaska Airlines; the other 15 top carriers for safety are SAS, Korean Air, Singapore Airlines, EVA Air, British Airways, Turkish Airlines, TAP Air Portugal, Lufthansa Group, KLM, Japan Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, American Airlines, Air France, Air Canada, and United Airlines.
Airlineratings.com has entered low-cost airlines in a stand-alone ranking where another Australian carrier, Jetstar, is at the top. Europe's easyjet occupies the second step of the podium, followed by arch-rival Ryanair; Wizz Air takes fourth place, followed by Norwegian, Frontier, Vueling, Vietjet, Southwest, and Volaris (which rounds out the top 10). Flydubai, Air Asia, Cebu Pacific, Sun Country, Spirit, Westjet, JetBlue, Air Arabia, Indigo and Eurowings follow.
The only two Italian companies surveyed by the site are. ITA Airways and Air Dolomiti, which they both have the maximum rating of 7 stars.
The least secure companies in the world
Among the companies with the lowest score Air Algerie (1 star), Asiana (which has 5 Skytrax Stars but three only in safety from airlineratings), China Eastern (3 stars), Cubana (3 stars), Egyptair (3 stars), Ethiopian Airlines (2 stars), Iran Air (2 stars), Lion Air (2 stars), Malaysia Airlines (3 stars), Pakistan International (1 star) stand out, Pegasus (2 stars), which is the only European to sport less than 5 stars.
