I treated myself (thanks to points) to Air France's La Premiere: Friday's departure

There are airplane trips you don't forget, there are experiences that only points make it possible to live Because the ticket price is beyond the reach of ordinary people.

The ticket in La Premiere is the Holy Grail, of course there are more famous and flashy booths, but no one treats the passenger like Air France treats the, lucky few, who can travel aboard one of the four first-class seats that on the French national airline's planes are called La Premiere.

In the past 12 months I have traveled first class with Singapore Airlinese (A380), British Airways (777), ANA (777) and Emirates (A380 and 777), this year I plan to travel on the "first class" of Air France, Lufthansa and Japan Airlines. All these tickets were booked and paid for with points. In this way I will complete My album of the 5 best first classes in the world.

During 2024, or perhaps early 2025, it is expected to debut La Premiere's new first-class cabin, announced in May 2022 should have been in operation by now, but the timeframe has lengthened. I don't think I will be among the lucky ones to try out the new cabin, but I will certainly try to fly there again as soon as it is installed.

How much does an Air France La Premiere ticket cost

This is one of the most expensive tickets in the world, also because places are really few, as well as the planes where La Premiere is installed and the few destinations served. I chose to fly to Japan to experience as much time as possible aboard this cabin and enjoy the experience to the fullest.

I chose to fly from Paris to Tokyo Haneda, which is the longest destination among those operated today with Air France's 777/300s, more than 60 minutes longer than the flight to Mexico City, a flight that takes just under 14 hours.

Japan is the most distant destination among those where the a few 777/300s outfitted with La Premiere's cabin and this ticket on the same day of my booking cost a little less than 6800€, today 48h before departure the price has risen to 7000€, but if you want to book as in my case a one-way ticket you are well over 10 thousand€.

For me, however, the ticket cost just under 250€ and 249 thousand Flying Blue points.. Certainly a significant cost, undoubtedly the most expensive ticket I have ever paid using points in my life, but the savings achieved is truly unique, as unique will be the experience I will have on board.

To have a term of comparison with the same points I could have redeemed almost 5 tickets to fly from Italy to the U.S. always on board Air France KLM, so potentially a much higher countervalue, but it would be like comparing a dinner at a three-star restaurant with a one-star restaurant, yes they are both starred, but they are two completely different leagues.

How I accumulate so many FB points

Definitely flying and focusing all my flights on my card in the Air France and KLM program., but it is not enough since to book this cabin. you also need to be at least Platinum In the Flying Blue frequent flyer.
