You could say "even the bum makes mistakes," which by the way I have shown a couple of times in some of my videos. Even I, despite the many flights and tickets I book every year make newbie mistakes.
My rookie mistake
In recent days I booked a ticket to fly from Linate to Oslo, Norway.. Among the various options, an Air France KLM combination had jumped out at me, which for just over €400 would allow me to jam in as many as 6 business class routes, one mini mileage run That, in addition to taking me to my destination, would put as many as 90 XP points in my pocket, practically 1/3 of the points to be accumulated each year to maintain the Platinum level.
The point is that gassed by the possibility to put in my pocket the same XP that accumulates with 3 intercontinental flights between Paris and New York in business, I didn't activate the part of the brain that was supposed to control all the other information about the flight, such as the Oslo airport in which I was landing.
I didn't so realize that by writing OSL, the IATA code of the airport where I was supposed to fly, all airports in the Norwegian capital were automatically entered. I use the same function, for example when I look for flights to New York and search indifferently for JFK or EWR and to do so I enter NYC as the destination. It also happens with Tokyo, with TYO encompassing both HND and NRT, but also in Italy MIL helps to search between MXP and LIN (and in some engines also BGY).
And so without realizing it, until I entered my flights on App in the Air, I booked round trip from TRF, which is Sandefjord-Torp Airport, A stopover that is 120km south of Oslo, and 167km away from Oslo International Airport.
A nothing (or almost nothing) mistake if I were headed to the city, but the point is that my flight to Norway is nothing more than an approach for one of my usual ridiculously priced tickets that I find around the web and use for my trips that become reviews on my channel.
Cancel a ticket and get a full refund
In Europe, there is no reservation for airline tickets similar to the United States that allows you to cancel a ticket within 24h from its issuance and get a full refund.
Air France KLM, however, allow their customers to change/cancel a ticket within 24 hours of its issuance.
The function applies to all tickets, all fares, and is fully automated from the website, without having to contact customer service or anything else. Just log into your Flying Blue profile, enter the reservation you wish to change/delete, and make the request in a few simple clicks.
In a few moments, the ticket will have disappeared from the personal area, and there will be a receipt for the transaction in your mailbox. Within a couple of days, if everything is in order, you will receive a refund of the ticket, without any penalty.
In conclusion
This is a feature that few people know about and can really come in handy in case of superficial errors such as a wrong last name, wrong date, or as in my case a wrong airport. The passenger has no obligation to rebook or anything else
