Trapani, airport closes for 3 weeks for runway modernization

Airgest, the management company of Trapani Birgi's Vincenzo Florio airport, announces that, from Sunday, Feb. 25 to Saturday, March 16, the airport will be closed for runway maintenance work.
Flights will be re-routed by the airlines, which will communicate more precise details to individual passengers. The airport will reopen at 8 a.m. on Saturday, March 16.
The details of the track work
The work, which has been planned for some time, involves the replacement and modernization of the luminous visual aids. The runway lights will be upgraded with LED systems, which are more efficient, effective and have a significant reduction in electricity consumption, thus having less environmental impact. These interventions are part of a vast program of infrastructural and technological modernization of Trapani Birgi airport, which began about four years ago, the client being the Air Force. There will be at the same time maintenance work on the runway itself, carried out by Airgest, such as removing rubber deposits and upgrading the road markings.

These are necessary works that will further implement the security of the Vincenzo Florio," he continued, "and prepare us in the best possible way for the arrival of a great summer season, from next April, in which traffic will explode again.
