If it weren't for reviewing I would never sleep in Times Square. a New York, generally below-average hotels, and prices far above average.

However, New York is the quintessential destination for Italians and sleeping in the heart of the city is one of the most convenient and easy solutions for first-time visitors to the Big Apple. In recent years, the following have popped up New skyscrapers and new hotels, mainly Marriott and Hilton and not just of the most luxurious signs.

If it were up to me, I would always sleep in Brooklyn or at most Downtown, away from the craziness and the mess, but this is the navel of the world.

    Reservation

Going to NY in January is the cheapest way to visit the city. Bargain hotels, starred restaurants offering set menus at half the cost, and broadway shows at human prices. So I decided to try this Motto, a new Hilton brand intended to compete with the Moxy. In NY I had already stayed in one of these hotels. and I must say that I can only confirm all the positive feelings.

I would have liked to have tried the Tempo, the new hotel even more central, but the price was more than double that of Motto and so I opted for this facility where for one night I spent just under 240$, considering that 1/3 of the costs are taxes and junk fees it was a good investment

    Three hotels in one skyscraper

As at the Resort World in Las Vegas there are three hotels under one roof, here in Manhattan there are 3 always Hilton properties that share equally the high-rise: Motto, Hampton Inn and Home 2Suites.

We are located right in front of the Hard Rock Hotel , another iconic hotel in the Big Apple.

The three signs are designed to provide different products to travelers. Motto Is the most fashionable one, Hampton Inn is the no frills one while Home2Suites is for long stays.

There are three different entrances and in total the three structures occupy 1/3 of the tower.

    Check-in

I arrived late in the morning, having left without any regrets the neighboring Hilton Times Square, The heart of the Motto, as with the Moxy, revolves around the front desk. Here compared to other hotels, the spaces are small, but you know in Times Square cm are expensive.

Motto in New York, nice this new Hilton family chain.

The reception desk is small and basic, all these chains are increasingly moving toward digital experiences at 100% and in some cases I checked in without even going through the front desk.

Having obtained the key, I headed to the room. Small upgrade on a high floor, but otherwise all rooms are "created equal."

    The room

The rooms are Essential, in the sense that there is not 1 cm more than necessary And all the superfluous has been eliminated.

So half of the bathroom is in the room, meaning that the sink is separated from the shower and toilet, thus saving valuable M2 and making more rooms fit in less space.

Considering that some hotels are made just for sleeping in, not for spending a week's vacation there like a resort, I don't mind this Ryanair solution.

Of course if there are two of you, With the classic supervacation suitcases in the U.S., it is not easy to handle, but otherwise I think it is absolutely feasible.

The bed, queen, or maybe even less is propped under the window and is definitely the coolest thing in the whole room. I made a couple of calls in the American night, full morning in Italy, and people were complimenting me on the background.

There is no closet; the desk is more of a support point. There is the classic mega smart TV to which all devices can be connected, if desired.

I was amazed by the presence in the room of an ironing machine for ironing clothes; ironing is a classic in all these hotels, but here there is no space for a board and iron, so they give you the contraption to iron the hanging stuff.

    The rest of the hotel

As mentioned there is little or no. In front of the reception desk there is a small relaxation area, just to wait for friends to come down or Lyft to arrive, I remember that Using Lyft you can earn, free of charge, Hilton Honors points With each run.

Opposite the reception desk is a bar, and from here there is also access to the hotel's small restaurant/breakfast room. That's it, that's it. It's not a problem because in NY you just sleep, the rest of the time you spend outside walking, running, breathing in the Big Apple.

    Breakfast

For the past 4 years now, Hilton in the U.S. has eliminated the free breakfast by turning it into a credit to spend at the hotel, there you can also pay for the colaizone, but forget about covering it. I, having to review, tried a dish from the a la carte menu, there is almost no buffet in any hotel under 5 stars in NY.

Nothing fancy, but a dish prepared on the spot and perfect for starting the day with a full belly.

    In conclusion

Motto is this, you know and if you book it you have to be aware that you will not find certain options or big spaces. I don't mind it, as I don't mind Moxy.

    The verdict
When I think of the "bad places" where I have slept in the Times Square area this is a 5-star, by far the best facility in this area. New, clean, essential.
