35.3 million passengers. This is the number of passengers who traveled to and from Milan airports in 2023: with this figure the traffic of the two airports (Linate e Malpensa) returns, finally, to the pre-Covid levels (2019 recorded the same number of transit riders); more specifically, the number of travelers in the year 2023 increased by 22% compared to 2022.
Malpensa Airport - which alone handled more passengers (amounting to 25.9 million) than Linate (9.4 million) - also handled the 65% of goods nationwide and more than 10% of all direct exports out of the European Union transited from there.
The year 2023 was also a year of awards For Milan airports: Linate scored 4.16 in the Airport Service Quality Overall Satisfaction index of ACI Europe (in 2022 it stood at 4.22), while Malpensa reached the score of 4.01 (the year before, however, it stood at 3.93); finally, both airports were included in the ranking of the best European airports compiled by ACI World.
Finally, in 2023, SEA-the company that manages Milan's airports-has implemented a program to Support economically the use of SAF, the sustainable fuel, at Malpensa and Linate airports.
