Sardinians and lovers of the Sardinia know very well how complicated it is to reach her: certainly, during the summer season the island's 3 airports-Cagliari, Alghero and Olbia-are well connected with both Italy and Europe; in low season, however, the argument is different and it becomes complicated - due to few flights and often inconvenient schedules - to organize even a weekend getaway, whether in Palermo, Venice or any other city. It seems, however, that the music is changing: ITA Airways announced the new seasonal flight Genoa-Olbia.
Operational from July 20 through August 31, 2024, A weekly frequency is planned for the new connection: the departure from Genoa is scheduled every Saturday at 3:20 p.m. and arrival in Olbia at 4:40 p.m.; in the reverse leg, however, takeoff from Olbia is scheduled at 5:30 p.m. and arrival at Cristoforo Colombo airport in Genoa at 6:35 p.m..
The new seasonal flight will be operated by the new Airbus A220s (there are 9 in total in ITA's fleet), much quieter and more efficient aircraft that record 25% lower fuel consumption and CO2 emissions per seat than the previous generation of short-haul aircraft.
To date, lTA Airways connects Sardinia with Milan and Rome by operating several daily flights from Cagliari's "Mario Mameli" airport; since July, however, Northern Sardinia will also finally be connected By the Italian flag carrier.
