Good news for travelers departing to and from the airport of Bergamo-Orio al Serio: from March 6, e-gates - electronic checkpoints-active for document control, Are also enabled to recognize the electronic identity card and no longer just to passport reading.
Each e-gate, SACBO (the company that manages Bergamo airport) announced, Allows a passenger's data to be checked in an average time of 20 seconds: thus, waiting times are reduced and the procedure of security checks of travelers passing through the Milan-Bergamo airport is facilitated.
Passengers on non-Schengen flights in particular are being facilitated flying to or from these destinations: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Georgia, Ireland, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Turkey.
This possibility is becoming increasingly popular at various Italian airports; the last similar announcement was made by Rome airports for Fiumicino and Ciampino.
