Sleeping "near" the Berlin airport: review Moxy Berlin

I landed at the BER, the Berlin airport 10:15 pm, One of the last flights and with the aer0port closing., complete with a door in the face at Burger King, outside arrivals.

I headed to the cab queue and here I felt a little bit at home between squatters chasing customers and long lines of people waiting Of cabs that weren't coming.

Dulcis infundo improprieties of the taxi driver who when he realized I was going to the Moxy, "immediately" outside the airport, he started listing all the expletives I know in German (and some other language unknown to me as well), however, unlike what might happen in Italy instead of telling me "get off I won't waste hours waiting to take you to T2" swallowed the scheise and took me to the Moxy.

Check-in

I arrived just in time because A dozen other guests popped up behind me. with the two receptionists at the front desk, which, however, is also a bar and restaurant engaged in the usual multitasking that is experienced at all Moxy.

Not having had time to have lunch or dinner While checking in, I also ordered a pizza salami and without even going to the room I stopped to eat.

The room

Nothing to tell: this is a standard Moxy with nothing different and no transgressions to the basic package.

Queen bed, no closet or desk. Just a small coffee table and armchair incorporated into the bed frame, and of course the inevitable ultra-wide screen.

The only, pleasant, novelty was the first welcome gift, to my memory never received in a moxy. A handwritten card, two snacks, a juice and a bottle of water.

Of course, also the classic bathroom ordinance with the same dispensers and perfumes found in Japan as in Milan.

The common spaces

Ihe beauty of the Moxy is what happens around the reception desk. Here a group of young Germans were playing soccer, others were working on the long friendship table. I stood on the table hanging from the ceiling eating pizza and answering a few emails.

On the opposite side is a small business area with workstations and even a Mac available to guests.

It is always like this, it is repetitive of course, but it is a certainty. A safe haven when traveling and needing a bed to sleep in and a space to work in peace before moving on.

The defect

Not all donuts come out with a hole and the problem here is the absence of the shuttle, an essential option for these airport hotels. Of my cab experience I have recounted, in the morning I would have liked to use the service instead, but the hotel does not offer it or rather directs you to shuttles from nearby parking lots that must be picked up and paid for online.

Nervous system because you enter the platform to reserve parking, you have to register and there is no "shuttle" option but the system figures out the moment you put in the reservation dates what you want. Moral of the story 30 minutes of sleep lost to understand the operation And then fail to pay.

In conclusion

Lo shuttle in these hotels Is as important as the mattress, if it's not there it's not good and you can't have a sufficiency. Also because passengers come and go at all hours of the day and night. In my case it was a flight with Scoot from Berlin to Singapore via Athens, checking out at 7 am.

As usual, I was satisfied with the hotel for less than 70€ you can't ask for better if I also consider the Marriott promo that allowed me to get qualifying double nights and 1000 bonus points.

The verdict

If you book a Moxy, except in very rare cases, you expect this and you are satisfied because it is fair for what you pay, but if I book a hotel near the airport I demand the facility shuttle or, something shared, not the low-cost parking bus to be booked after 10 thousand passes. That's why I take 1.5 points off the final rating.
