Vueling is a low-cost company fully controlled by IAG, a company that also owns Iberia and British Airways, this leads it to be a different carrier from all other low-cost airlines. How to earn Avios points with Vueling

You can earn Avios on any Vueling ticket, regardless of cost, and you can credit them to an Avios Iberia Plus or Vueling Club account: both allow transfers via "Combine My Avios" in the British Airways Executive Club.
There are three ways to earn Avios with Vueling:
- The Vueling Club
- By booking through the British Airways website.
- Booking through Iberia
#1 Accumulate Avios with Vueling Club
Vueling Club is the loyalty program of the Spanish airline and allows you to accumulate Avios points by then choosing to move them to your Executive Club card. As is now the case with BA and Iberia, the accumulation is linked to spending. Avios are earned for every € spent.
In detail, the accumulation includes:
- 2 Avios For every € spent with the Basic rate
- 4 Avios per € on all other fare classes.
It is always possible to move points from the Vueling Club to the British account and vice versa
#2 Accumulate with code share flights with BA
In the case of booking flights from BA website, operated by Vueling, the accumulation on the Executive Club account will be direct. With this type of ticket in addition to getting Avios points you will also get Tier points useful for status renewal.
However, I always recommend checking the cost of the same route on the site of Vueling since often the same ticket costs significantly more If sold by BA.
#3 Accumulate on Iberia Plus
Same situation if you book through Iberia's website and you end up on a codeshare flight. The flight will be treated like any other flight of the Spanish airline, which since last year How BA switched to a calculation based on the cost of the ticket. Again, however, the ticket price will be (considerably) more expensive than if booked directly through Vueling.
If instead you book a Vueling flight on vueling.com you can credit points directly to your Iberia plus card, you will earn Avios based on what you spend according to Vueling's accumulation rates (2 Avios per €1 on Basic fares, 4 Avios per €1 on other fares).
However, there is the opposite situation, viz. If you book a Vueling flight (VY) on the Vueling site operated by Iberia. And then you credit it to Iberia Plus. In this case you accumulate Avios based on the distance traveled:
- Business - 2.5 Avios per mile flown (min 1,250)
- Discounted Business - 1.5 Avios per mile flown (min 750)
- Flexible Economy - 1 Avios per mile flown (min 500)
- Classic Economy - 0.5 Avios per mile flown (min 250)
- Basic Economy - 0.25 Avios per mile flown (min 125)
In conclusion
The variables are many and you have to be careful with your wallet. The only certainty is that Never use avios points to book a ticket with Vueling except for reasons of force majeure.
