Being loyal to a hotel chain has its pros and cons, if then through loyalty you are repaid with fabulous upgrades is just the reward for perseverance.

    Check compensation

Those who read TFC often have realized that Bangkok is my favorite destination, but it's not like I fly to this city all the time just because I love the Thailand, but why often routes to BKK are among the cheapest, thanks to the great competition, and this leads so many companies to have prices that on other destinations are unthinkable.

Did you get your flight cancelled, miss your connection, land late?

You could get up to 600€ compensation per person

Pass by the ticket of Emirates' cheapest first class, as well as many companies make incredible fares to fly to Thailand and are therefore perfect for my reviews. (If you would also like to receive the deals just subscribe to our whatsapp channel and turn on notifications)

    Reservation

This was the last facility visited in Thailand in 2023. I also had some SNA residuals to be consumed By the end of the year and then, I opted to use them in this structure hoping they would be accepted.

The price of this JW was not among the Marriott cheapest in the city, but wanting to pass them all like I did with the Hilton of Bangkok, it was mandatory to spend at least one night there at some point.

The cost of the basic room was 210€, certainly in Thailand's capital there are equally elegant facilities at more competitive prices, but JW is the luxury sign of the Marriot familyt, a different 5-star but on par with St. Regis e W Hotel. All facilities in Bangkok that I have already visited.

A week before my arrival I received the email I was waiting for, upgrade confirmed. What I did not imagine was the type of room I would be assigned.

    Location

We are in the heart of Bangkok, in the center of Sukhumvit Road. The street that never sleeps. The city's best shopping malls are here, the BTS runs past the hotel entrance, and Nana Plaza is practically under the windows of this hotel.

Also on the same path is the Doubletree Ploenchit, and half a dozen other hotels. In short is perfect for everyone, but really everyone who wants to visit this megalopolis.

    Check-in

I arrived late in the morning, I was aiming for an early check-in so I could leave my stuff, so much as usual I travel light, and escape to Chinatown With a couple of Italian bad boys who live around here.

Chinatown is a way apart, if you have never been there it is worth a tuk tuk or scooter ride to go and breathe, taste, touch a piece of China, but with a Thai smile.

That said, after admiring the arrival board, and Having felt like a simple Titanium, I took my my awesome aluminum trolley from Level8  and I moved to the 16th floor, because from the front desk they invited me to do the paperwork in the hotel lounge.

And who am I to complain about having to take the elevator and move almost to heaven?

Here I am shown in, offered a drink and a fresh cloth. And a few minutes later I had my card and was on my way to the room, of course not before receiving my list of benefits and choosing to receive Bonus points as an extra gift for my loyalty.

    The room

To call it a room is reductive, perhaps it would be better to say the apartment. It was crazy.

    jwmarriott_bangkok_review2960
    jwmarriott_bangkok_review2949 jwmarriott_bangkok_review2965

Double facing on two sides of the city, three divided rooms and a monumental bathroom.  I dare not imagine what the presidential suite is. whether a simple Suite is the size of a house where five people or perhaps more could live, comfortably.

The room opens onto a small living room that overlooks the north side of the city, from here you can see Mahanakhon, the "decomposed" skyscraper where there is one of the city's most famous rooftop bars, with a mega screen perfect for watching the Superbowl with friends.

Then there is the office area, which of course I used just for this. E right here I am writing this review, although then it will be months before it is published. Imperial desk, and all the equipment you need from sockets to ruler, stapler to post-it notes.

In front of the desk is the bar area, refrigerator (empty), coffee maker, and more.

You then enter the bedroom proper. And here I struggle to keep my jaw in place.

Immense round window running along the entire wall with a view of the opposite side of the city, namely Sukhumvit road. You can see the BTS, skyscrapers, and everything else.

The room is huge, let's say they could put at least 3 more beds in it and it would not be cramped at all. (if you like the trolley you can use TFC10 and get 10% discount on the whole store)

King bed with space topper, choice of 10 different types of pillows and more.

There is also a second sofa and a second mega TV, perhaps even larger than the first.

Of course there is also "the loo," the size of a double room in a 4* hotel in New York City. All marble and all polished up.

    jwmarriott_bangkok_review2952
    jwmarriott_bangkok_review2951 jwmarriott_bangkok_review2953 jwmarriott_bangkok_review2954 jwmarriott_bangkok_review2955

Double shower and tub (not hydro). To find fault there was no Japanese tablet.

Welcoming me to my room was a plate with fresh fruit and a handwritten letter from the staff welcoming me.

In the evening, when they came by for room rearrangement, I was also left with a souvenir elephant.

A tradition, as with the Conrads, of leaving puppets for guests.

    Swimming pool, garden and gymnasium

    jwmarriott_bangkok_review2966
    jwmarriott_bangkok_review2967 jwmarriott_bangkok_review2968

On the 6th floor, which is then the rooftop of the structure below, are the hotel's spa, gym, and swimming pool.

    jwmarriott_bangkok_review2976
    jwmarriott_bangkok_review2969 jwmarriott_bangkok_review2975

The gym is very large, much larger than many others seen in these hotels.

The pool, on the other hand, is not very large, but it is set in a beautiful garden and partially shaded, a factor that makes it definitely more livable.

Impossible to think that we are on the most messy street in all of Bangkok, in the city's craziest intersection, and yet it feels like an oasis of peace.

    The lobby

On the ground floor there is a spectacular lobby with at the center a grand piano played at all hours by masters.

Here is also one of several bars in the hotel. Definitely the most elegant one.

    jwmarriott_bangkok_review2989
    jwmarriott_bangkok_review2988 jwmarriott_bangkok_review2986 jwmarriott_bangkok_review2985

There are also a couple of stores here, a bakery corner, and from here there is also access to some of the hotel's restaurants.

    The lounge

In addition to being used for check-in the lounge is alive all day long, certain to access you have to be platinum or higher in the Bonvoy program, but this is one of the benefits that drives me to get the status. No matter if I am traveling alone or with my family, having lounge access means saving money and traveling more peace of mind.

The food offerings at happy hour were. one of the most varied and best I have ever found. More emblazoned hotels have served much less and of lower quality.

    jwmarriott_bangkok_review3017
    jwmarriott_bangkok_review3018 jwmarriott_bangkok_review3009

Express cuisine in front of guests' eyes, products prepared in the hotel's various restaurants and brought to the lounge to "introduce" them to guests, a great strategy to then convince them to try the real restaurant. And if that wasn't enough cocktails prepared to perfection and, as always, all for free. Dulcis in fundo, wanting to also a beautiful terrace where you can relax wrapped in the warmth of the Bangkok evening.

    Food & Beverage

There are several restaurants in the hotel, but I am always for going out to eat around, especially because I love Thai street food.

Breakfast, on the other hand, was pure poetry, or rather it was an odyssey. There was everything and more.

Since I had overindulged in local flavors in the evening, I decided to stay for breakfast.

    In conclusion

    jwmarriott_bangkok_review3067
    jwmarriott_bangkok_review3002 jwmarriott_bangkok_review2998 jwmarriott_bangkok_review2997

Definitely on another level. Certainly the St. Regis is one level above, but this JW plays it right to the end. Highly recommended.

    The verdict
If the recipe is Thailand + Marriott + Platinum Status + SNA, the result can only be an incredible stay, and so it was. Perfect location, killer suites, and all at a price really impossible to have without loyalty to the Marriott Bonvoy program
