With the advent of the pandemic, almost everyone thought it would no longer be possible to travel as before. For this reason, many companies decided to retire early the giants of the skies such as the Airbus A380; however, when the world later returned to "normalcy," almost all the carriers backed off: these include. Etihad Airways who decided to "dust off" his Super Jumbo and use them in the routes Abu Dhabi-London e Abu Dhabi-New York. But not only that.
The date to mark on the calendar: November 1, 2024
Indeed, it is news in recent days that the Emirates flag carrier has decided to (re)use the A380 also for the connection Abu Dhabi-Paris. Currently operated with an A350-1000, the route AUH-CDG Will again be operated by Super Jumbo as of the November 1, 2024 and involves one connection per day: flight EY31 will depart Abu Dhabi at 02:40 and arrive in Paris at 07:30; on the reverse leg, however, it will depart the French capital at 09:45 and land in the emirate at 19:25 (local time).
I frequent flyer from around the world (especially Europeans, given the routes mentioned above) welcomed with no small amount of enthusiasm the decision to reignite the four engines of the A380. The Super Jumbo made hundreds of millions of fans around the world fall in love with it, sure, it was (and still is) the most coveted plane by the vast majority of av geeks. But it's not just about that.
Etihad's decision to restart its giants makes the mouth water because it will again be possible, at last, to fly aboard "The Residence", one of the most exclusive cabins (and expensive) of the commercial aviation world.
What is "The Residence"
The name was not chosen casually: it is a real three-room apartment (which can accommodate up to two people) with stay, bedroom, private bathroom (with shower, to boot) and butler.
Not only that: passengers flying in "The Residence" will have a limousine who will accompany them all the way down the steps of the plane (not before, however, escorting them into the private lounge).
In conclusion
Word of mouth: resilience. Just a handful of years ago, the A380 was given was doomed by all, and today, however, its four engines continue to ply the skies around the world. And it is beautiful.
