As of May 20, 2024, Volare Members can request from their Personal Area theVolare points credit for flights already made and for which points have not yet been credited. Thanks to this back-crediting procedure, those enrolled in the Italian airline's loyalty program will be able to see their point balance grow by recovering flights made with partner airlines at a time when it was not possible to enter the Volare card.
How Volare points backcredit works
In this article:
It is possible to apply for back-credit from two weeks from the date of the flight until the specific time window for each program.
- Korean Air: within 12 months from the date of flight
- Virgin: within 12 months from the date of flight
- Air Europa: within 6 months from the date of flight
- Middle East: within 12 months from the date of flight
- Aerolineas Argentinas: within 6 months from the date of the flight
- Air France: within 6 months from the date of flight
- KLM: within 6 months from the date of the flight
- Delta: within 12 months from the date of flight
- AeroMexico: within 6 months of flight date
- Saudia: within 12 months from the date of flight
It can be requested on flights sold and operated by each of the partners with which ITA Airways has signed one of the ten existing frequent flyer agreements, (in parentheses the cut-off date of the flight for the request to be valid, which corresponds to when the partnership was signed with each individual FF program) i.e.:
- Korean Air: November 9, 2022
- Virgin Atlantic: March 1, 2023
- Air Europa: June 22, 2023
- Middle East: August 1, 2023
- Aerolineas Argentinas: October 11, 2023
- Air France: November 20, 2023
- KLM: November 20, 2023
- Delta: January 1, 2024
- AeroMexico: March 5, 2024
- Saudia: March 8, 2024
The list includes all carriers that, to date, have agreements with ITA: from Korean Air the first to Saudia, which became a partner just in recent days.
In the case of Korean, The first carrier to sign an agreement with Volare, it will then be possible to claim the back-credit for a flight made 12 months ago, while as far as Delta is concerned, the flight must have been made after January 1, 2024.
Beware of being sneaky. The companies have an internal system of cooperation that in such cases "catches out" the Double dipping, or the attempted double accumulation.
Needless to say, it is, of course, possible to request the back-crediting of all incorrectly credited ITA flights using the same procedure.
What does backcredit points mean
As I have had the opportunity to explain in many articles, the practice of back-crediting is to go retrospectively and load the points from a flight (or stay) onto the card of the chosen loyalty program. Each program has its own rules and target date beyond which, if not credited, the points are lost forever.
How to apply
Volare has updated the dedicated box within the restricted area, just enter your ticket number and activate the procedure.
- The request will be subject to verification and will be taken up within 30 days. The Volare member can check the status of his or her claim by logging into the Personal Area and clicking on "Latest Activities" in the "Your Volare Points" section.
- For tickets consisting of multiple routes, a new request must be made for each route that makes up the ticket in question, then indicating the number of the same ticket in the appropriate field and entering the necessary information for each leg flown. (For example, for a ticket with a flight departing from Milan Linate and final destination New York JFK, with a stopover at Rome Fiumicino, the flight from Milan Linate to Rome Fiumicino, and the flight from Rome Fiumicino to New York JFK are considered "legs").
