How many times have I written that, to date, the Flying Blue program is the best in the European market? I think Nmila, and today is yet another demonstration of the excellent work they are doing in the Franco-Dutch company.
In this article:
Oman Air, the national carrier of Oman is about to join oneworld, but that does not mean that there cannot be partnerships with carriers outside that alliance. Already, the Muscat-based carrier has an agreement with Etihad and its loyalty program, and now comes this news with Air France KLM.
Over the past 12 months, Benjamin Lipsey, the number one Flying Blue loyalty program, has literally pushed to take the program to a dimension never before seen on the European scene. From the possibility of redeeming Award tickets on all first Skyteam classes., at discount on award tickets up to the recent agreement with Etihad e without forgetting the decision made in the recent error make which allowed Thousands of members to redeem business class for very few points.
The partnership between Air France KLM and Oman Air.
Did you get your flight cancelled, miss your connection, land late?
You could get up to 600€ compensation per person
The following news appeared on Flying Blue's website. which explains how the two loyalty programs will work together to provide more opportunities for their respective frequent flyers.
You can now earn miles on flights marketed as Oman Air (WY) and operated by Oman Air (WY), Air France (AF) or KLM (KL). As with all partner flights the accumulation of FB points will not be linked to the expense incurred, but to the distance flown with a multiplier linked to the booking class.
I remind you that it is no longer possible, however Accumulate XP points, which are those useful for obtaining status with flights operated by non-Skyteam partners. In a nutshell, this arrangement allows no loss of points, but does not allow WY routes to count toward obtaining or renewing status.
Last but not least, award tickets do not generate accumulation and that tickets issued with classes not in the table above do not accumulate points.
Redeem Oman Air award tickets with Flying Blue points
One of the most interesting aspects of this collaboration is definitely the Opportunity to use Air France KLM program points to fly aboard Oman Air.
As I have had a chance to tell Muscat's company is a true boutique airline, sure First Class is almost impossible to fly, but the best choice is to go for business class aboard the 787s or the very rare A330s. In the first case, you fly aboard the Apex Suite., the best seat after the QSuite, in the second, however, you fly in a First Class seat, but at the business price.
Flying from Italy to Muscat, the capital city, and perhaps Stay in the beautiful W Hotel, has a cost in economy of 23k FB points plus just over 160€ in taxes, the same ticket in business class rises to 47,200 miles and just under 300€ in taxes.
FB points also open up the possibility of booking a ticket on board Oman Air's first class, on one of the very few routes where it is operated (I remind you today WY does not fly to the US), for example going to Bangkok requires 62k miles plus taxes, not bad for a first class.
In conclusion
This news is good news. Given the amount of points required and the opportunity to fly from Rome and Milan with Oman Air and the ease of accumulating FB points in Italy because of Mooncard and American Express and frequent promotions to get rich bonus when buying FB points From today Flying Blue points are even more of a treasure.
