Rebrands, or name changes in the hotel world, are commonplace, and today we are talking about just such a "top player" moving from Hilton to Marriott. In recent weeks I had written about the exit from the Conrad sign. of one of the most popular facilities for serial point accumulators in New York City.
After a couple of weeks of uncertainty about the future of the facility came confirmation that "overnight" the hotel went under the sign The Luxury Collection, or that which distinguishes independent hotels that choose to affiliate with Marriott.
"In recent weeks, we have closed deals to convert three incredible properties, adding more than 1,000 rooms to our system and continuing to underscore our commitment to luxury," said Leeny Oberg, chief financial officer and executive vice president, Development, Marriott International . "A luxury hotel in New York, New York, will join the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio on June 5. This property is located in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, close to major attractions including Central Park, Times Square, the Museum of Modern Art, Rockefeller Center, Fifth Avenue stores and Radio City Music Hall. This exciting addition will mark The Luxury Collection's return to New York City."
The hotel has not closed and has not undergone any renovation process, signs will probably be changed, logos removed, and products in room bathrooms replaced as guests fell asleep yesterday in a Hilton and woke up this morning in a Marriott.
