On the Mymiglia website towers a Frecciarossa with the words Welcome Trenitalia, sure the "find out more" link is wrong and points to a 404, but the news is true and verified: The second life of the program has officially begun Millemiglia, the former loyalty of Alitalia which now instead goes from the skies to the rails (or almost).
It is now possible to link Millemiglia/cartafreccia profiles.
A step-by-step guide to merge the two profiles, or rather to link the CartaFRECCIA card number to one's Millemiglia account, has been uploaded to the site.
To complete the operation, simply enter your MyMiglia profile and enter your Trenitalia card number in the appropriate field. At the moment there is no trace of the reverse possibility, i.e. entering the MyMiglia number on the CartaFRECCIA profile.
Trenitalia travel promotion gives away 6,000 bonus miles
To kick off the collaboration, I remind you. Trenitalia has taken over the MyMiglia program in recent weeks, a promotion was also launched that allows those who travel aboard trains to earn bonus miles on their MyMiglia profile.
To take advantage of the promotion, you must purchase a ticket with Trenitalia from June 27 to August 31, 2024, and travel on the Frecce by October 15, 2024. Doing so will earn 6,000 bonus miles. There is also an additional bonus, worth 500 qualifying miles, which is triggered if you make a second trip by December 31, 2024.
The rules of the promotion specify that Bonus miles earned through this initiative are not valid for joining or renewing membership in Exclusive Clubs. This means that Trenitalia's intentions are to keep the Mymiglia loyalty program alive, but not to allow points to be earned for elite level renewals through train travel, it wouldn't be a first time, since Miles&More allows you to earn miles and status with travel on German trains, but it would reinvigorate MyMiglia statuses.
What future for MyMiglia/Millemiglia
It is clear that Trenitalia, at a bargain price, has grabbed a enormous amount of data, but more importantly, a know-how and a package of business partnerships otherwise difficult to build in a short time. I now expect a maturation of the CartaFRECCIA program thanks to the contribution of Millemiglia.
On the future of points and statuses I remain very critical and if I were a Wall Street broker I would advise finding an exit as quickly as possible and certainly not accumulating any more on this card, barring twists and turns unpredictable to date If not related to the release of ITA Airways from Skyteam.
