It was October 2023 when we wrote that Qatar would introduce Starlink wi-fi in its aircraft. Today, a handful of months later, there is a date, or rather a period: By the last quarter of 2024 3 Boeing 777-300s will be the first aircraft of Qatar To be equipped with Starlink connectivity; the rest of the fleet, however, will be upgraded within two years, by 2026.
Once the service goes live, then, passengers flying with the Qatari carrier will be able to surf the web or watch streaming movies and TV series free of charge e at a not inconsiderable speed (up to 500 megabits per second).
Qatar is currently one of the few airlines to use Starlink connectivity: it is also installed in the aircraft of Hawaiian Airlines and soon, As we have written in recent weeks, will also be available on airBaltic and Air New Zealand.

To date, as far as in-flight wi-fi is concerned, most of Qatar's aircraft make use of the GX Aviation technology from the provider Inmarsat: the cost is $10 and there are no data limits; other aircraft, however, are equipped with theOnAir wi-fi, known for not being a "lightning bolt."
