It is a time of celebration at home Vueling, the Spanish low-cost airline that is part of the IAG group (the same group that owns British Airways and Iberia). The Spanish carrier this year not only shuts down its first 20 candles - it was, in fact, July 2004 when it first took off from the Barcelona airport to only four destinations - but also celebrates 5 million passengers reached at theVenice "Marco Polo" airport, in which he has been flying since 2006.
The lagoon is one of the most important Italian airports for Vueling: during the 2024 summer season, in fact, there will be 3 daily flights connecting Venice and Barcelona, the main hub of the Spanish airline.
"In 20 years of operating in Italy, Vueling has demonstrated its commitment to this country. Venice Marco Polo is a great example of the importance of offering a level product to customers so they can tailor their travel to suit their needs." comments Jordi Pla, Director Network & Alliances at Vueling,"with up to 3 daily frequencies, Vueling offers different options for all types of travelers, making travel much more pleasant and easy. By connecting Venice to Barcelona, we are offering travelers more connections to all of Vueling's medium- and short-haul destinations, as well as long-haul thanks to codeshare agreements with other airlines. We will continue to work to offer Italians the best options for flying to the approximately 100 destinations that Vueling has in its network."
In this summer season, Venice aside, Vueling flies to 13 more Italian cities: Rome (FCO) e Florence (the two most important bases for the Spanish carrier in our country), Milan (MXP e LIN), Turin, Genoa, Bologna, Naples, Bari, Palermo, Catania, Comiso, Cagliari e Olbia.
Vueling, which began operations in 2004 with only two planes, now has a A320 family fleet of 124 aircraft of Airbus: 6 A319s, 96 A320s (25 of them in the neo version) and 22 A321s.
