Forte dei Marmi's Ambulants arrive at Genoa's Old Port
On Saturday, Nov. 1, the consortium of "open-air boutiques" brings an event-market dedicated to fashion and handicrafts to Mandraccio Square, with continuous hours from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Genoa. Saturday, November 1, the Old Port will host the market de Forte dei Marmi's Ambulants, which will stop at the Mandraccio Square with continuous hours from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. The appointment is presented as a event-market devoted specifically to clothing, handbags, shoes, cashmere, linens, jewelry and Florentine art.
Organizers call the initiative "The real market from Forte dei Marmi with the registered trademark" and draw attention to the importance of official brand recognition. According to the communication released by the organizers, the registered brand distinguishes the original offer from the many initiatives that are inspired by the Forte dei Marmi model.
The project is promoted by a consortium that is described as being born in 2002 "from the union of some of the best stalls in Italy's most beautiful market, with the aim of making the show itinerant in national squares." The consortium defines its network as a series of "open-air boutiques" geared toward offering selected fashion and craft products.
The press release also points out that the project has been the subject, over time, of "several attempts at imitation, moreover, increasingly distant from the original," with an explicit invitation to the public to beware of the "official brand." The event at the Porto Antico thus aims to offer visitors an outdoor shopping experience that recalls the traditional offerings of the Forte dei Marmi market.
