Singular is the fact that these hotels in Milan are all located in the vicinity of airports: this one at Linate and another in front of Malpensa T2.
Reservation
As always, if you want to get the benefits and earn points to turn into free nights, you have to use the official channels: website and app. Personally, I prefer to do everything through the official Marriott app: it is simple and intuitive and, most importantly, it stores data and preferences. Booking a room is a matter of 4 or 5 clicks at most.
This stay cost me 82€, breakfast impacted the basic room price by 5€. Thanks to my Platinum American Express, I can take advantage of the benefits of the Gold level of the Bonvoy program, and that means preferential treatment: more points, but unfortunately not the free breakfast that is instead triggered by a higher level. In any case, 5 euros is practically the cost of a breakfast at an Autogrill.
Check-in
Designed for young people, so informal and fast. Before my arrival, I had already taken advantage of the ability to check in directly from the app. Thanks to this feature you also have access to the digital key, in fact the app on your phone can open the room door, operate the elevator and much more. To activate it, however, it is necessary to go through the front desk, where documents must be checked as required by Italian law.
The common spaces are a cross between a trendy club, a modern art museum, and a hotel. All very colorful and with that reasoned clutter by an excellent interior design team.
The hotel is located outside the airport, a few minutes by car or cab, and has private parking. Too bad it lacks a view of the runway.
The room
The rooms are all of the same type, the only option you can choose is the bed. The decor is basic but sophisticated. The wallpaper looks like huge graffiti, the bed seems suspended, and LED lights everywhere in the room illuminate and decorate at the same time.
There is nothing superfluous in the room, not even a desk to work on, but a very comfortable chair where you can do smartworking with your legs resting on the bed, queen size.
The reverse TV is huge, and among the offerings is the proprietary Moxy channel where 24-hour fitness classes are broadcast.
The bathroom, like the rest of the room, offers what one would expect from such a facility. A hotel where you sleep one night before catching a plane or at most a couple of nights on a business trip, in short situation where you spend a lot of time outside and little in the room.
A small gym on the ground floor is available to guests. The space is small, and certainly when the 100-plus rooms in this hotel are occupied, entry management can become complicated. At this time, however, it is more than adequate for guests' needs
No breakfast buffet, but service by reservation that is served in the lounge. Note how the bar counter also serves as the reception desk and cash register for the small pantry, where drinks and snacks are for sale.
In conclusion
Of course it's not downtown, but when the subway will arrive at Linate it might not be a bad idea at all to choose this hotel for a weekend in Milan. On the other hand, if you're in Milan for work, it all depends on where you need to get around; for the eastern part of the city, it's perfect: it's 5 minutes from the eastern ring road.
