The idea, in truth, has been in the air for some time. Before the pandemic broke out, Cap Air had won the contract to connect Boston Harbor to the Manhattan hangar (on 23rd Street). Now, here the service is getting ready to go (albeit in a slightly different way).
How to go by seaplane from New York to Boston
The inauguration of seaplane travel from New York to Boston is set for the 3rd August. Cape Air will not be carrying them out, however: to sell tickets is now Tailwind Air, which will begin with two round-trip flights per day, increasing to four from August 23. The flights will be seasonal, from March to November, and will last 90 minutes (75 in the air). In case of bad weather, and overnight, the service will be suspended.
There are 8 the Cessna Caravan which will soar from Boston to Long Island, with prices $ 395 to $ 795 each way (equal to about 333 to 672 euros). Passengers will board a water cab at Fan Pier for a seven-minute ride to a floating pier connected to a mooring line near the coast of East Boston, where they will board the planes. In fact, they let Tailwind Air know, authorities are currently working to land the seaplanes directly on the harbor (thus avoiding the floating pier), but a solution has not yet been found. In Manhattan, planes will take off and land at the Skyport seaplane terminal on the East River at 23rd Street.

It is not yet known whether Cape Air will also take over at a later date. What is certain is that the service will be popular with business people, who travel between Boston and New York and who - often - do not have the time for the airport delays that a domestic flight requires.
