We have often written about theBergamo airport, hardly if you live in Italy and are at least 40 years old have you not passed through this stopover once in your life. In these years the airport has changed by adapting to the increase in traffic and to the exponential growth of Ryanair and all the other low-cost airlines that have landed at this airport over the past two decades.

In this article:

We also recently told how owning a card Priority Pass make life so much better for those taking off from this airport, today I want instead to review in detail the two lounges at this airport.

These lounges are both accessible to Priority Pass holders and using both is the right thing to do. Thanks to this card, you will not have to pay for the two entrances thus saving over 40€ per traveler. In addition to PP, the two halls are also open to similar cards such as LoungeKey, LoungeBuddy and many others.

This hall is located outside the sterile area of the airport, which means it is before the security checkpoints. It is called Chek-in precisely because it has the not-very-common feature of having a counter inside where you can check in and board your luggage.

The ability to skip the queue at the counters in the public area and do so comfortably inside the lounge is a hugely valuable benefit, both in terms of money and less stress.

Only those who have traveled with baggage to be checked aboard a low-cost airline can understand the stress of waiting in line, the fear of missing your flight and being told by the attendant, "Sorry we have closed the counter for your flight." Here in this lounge that doesn't happen, and while you sip a drink and the children quietly draw or play, you can take care of the paperwork.

This lounge is not very large, but it need not be since it offers two essential services and should be used only for these. The second reason to use this lounge is that, thanks to the door to the left of the reception area, you have access to the security checkpoints, or rather you skip the checkpoints by coming directly to the scanners.

In fact, in this room, one can check in and do the paperwork quickly and then head directly to the controls. Thanks to fast track, it is therefore possible to save time and go from check-in to the controls in 60 seconds, always without paying anything if you have an American Express Platinum in your wallet.

Of course, it also offers some snacks, but there is really no point in wasting time except for an irresistible and irrepressible lack of sugar.

    Hello Sky Lounge

The second lounge that you can visit in Bergamo thanks to the Priority Pass card is the brand new Hello Sky. Opened last year, allows you to wait for your flight in elegant surroundings, eat and drink in peace and quiet, and go to the gate only at the time of boarding. Again, paid admission can be avoided by presenting your card.

To find a flaw, I would say the location: it is located at the end of Terminal A, just before security checks for flights bound for non-Schengen destinations. The choice, however, has its own logic; this way it manages to serve all passengers without the need to have a second lounge after screening, as is the case in so many other airports.

As mentioned, entry is free for Priority Pass holders, but you can also pay €25 to gain access. When it comes to paying to enter a lounge my judgment starts from a simple reasoning. How much time do I have to spend in the lounge? Do I need to have lunch/dinner? Am I alone? All of these questions often lead to a negative answer. Unless the wait is really long.

The lounge is spacious, clean and neat. And this is already very positive since it is an Italian lounge.

Since its opening in the midst of a pandemic in 2021, one could appreciate an attention to detail and design in both the choice of furniture and attention to detail.

It does not face the outside, but on one side of the room there is a glass window showing the terminal and the forecourt outside.

It offers different types of seating. On the occasion of my visit, it was not very crowded, and I don't think the reason was the low airport turnout, because it wasn't. Affecting this is the fact that the low-cost passenger often does not take advantage of all the benefits provided by credit cards such as the American Express Gold which, in addition to being offered free of charge for the first year, also gives away two accesses to this or other Priority Pass lounges around the world.

    Food & Beverage

Islands have been designed where you can serve yourself.

And there is a small selection of free self-service products.

Then there is a smartphone-accessible menu that allows people to order hot dishes for a fee. These range from pasta to pizza, an offering that varies depending on the time of day.

    In conclusion

Of course, the Bergamo passenger is a user who looks at the price of the ticket and tries to spend as little as possible, here's that having the opportunity to take advantage of their card to enjoy all these services for free makes travel better even when flying Ryanair.

    The verdict
The rating is for the pair and the sum of the benefits/services they offer if you take advantage of both. If you travel frequently from Bergamo it is a must to have Priority Pass in your wallet the savings you get more than repays the cost of the subscription or the monthly fee of the Platinum card
