For some time now, it seems that we are finally in the closing phase of the Covid-19 pandemic. The travel world is now back on track, although not yet back to the level of 2019. Looking at the last two years of restrictions, the steps forward are obvious and reassuring, both for travelers and for those in the industry of this vast landscape. Tangible evidence is provided by the decision to Emirates, a major airline, to open its doors again to new employees. The carrier is looking for new cabin crew, and the announcements published last September 2021 were the first since the beginning of the health emergency.

Emirates recruitment: the carrier's commentary
An Emirates spokesperson told The National about the carrier's current situation: "The company is focused on recovery and increasing operations. At this stage we are accelerating our recruitment. We aim to hire about 6,000 employees for cabin crew positions. This will take place during this financial year, that is, from April 2022 to March 2023. The more than 300 thousand applications received demonstrate the high level of interest in this role, as well as Dubai's growing reputation as one of the world's best cities in which to live and work.
Emirates is notoriously one of the airlines with the most complex placement process. Getting a job with this carrier is a dream for many aspiring candidates, who used to travel in search of recruiting teams at special fairs. Such mass events ended with the pandemic. A hiring style to which Emirates does not intend to return. The path to hope for recruitment is now totally digital. To attempt this route, applicants must fill out an online application and take a pre-recorded remote interview.
Once past this stage, then, there will be a confrontation with a human recruiter. However, not all new hires will be unfamiliar faces for the carrier, which has decided to recall some former employees who were laid off during the "hottest" phase of the pandemic. An estimated 7,500 cabin crew members were laid off in April 2020, once the entire fleet was grounded. The situation is quite different today, with a return to 2019 levels by 2023.
