  • Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industrys standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries

If we want to travel to European Union and Schengen countries, it is enough to have our own ID card with us at all times. This ID will be validated without any problem.

    To be remembered of course as the access rules have now changed in the UK. If, on the other hand, we aim to travel elsewhere, including outside the European continent, we will have to arrange to have a passport issued, following the relevant procedure. Is that all we need to know? Not really. As much as the Italian passport is at the top of the relevant list, it does not open all doors. Not by itself at least. It is good to know its limitations so that we do not find ourselves booking a trip we cannot take, not even being able to board the plane.

    As mentioned, the Italian passport is really good. Precisely it ranks at the ter third place in the 2022 ranking. This means, specifically, that there are as many as 189 countries in the world that do not require the possession of a visa by Italian travelers in order to cross borders or even just board a plane aiming to land in their territory. Here is where you can travel armed only with your passport:

    • Oceania: American Samoa, Cook Islands, French Polynesia, Kiribati, Micronesia, New Zealand
    • Northern Mariana Islands, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, Australia, Fiji, Guam, Marshall Islands, New Caledonia, Niue, Palau Islands, Samoa, Tonga, Vanuatu;
    • Middle East: Armenia, Iran, Israel, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestinian Territories, Saudi Arabia;
    • Caribbean: Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Bonaire, St. Eustatius, Saba, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Curacao, Dominica, Dominican Republic, French West Indies, Grenada, Haiti, Jamaica, Montserrat, Puerto Rico, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Maarten, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos Islands, U.S. Virgin Islands;
    • Asia: Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Tajikistan, Thailand, Timor-Leste, Uzbekistan, Vietnam;
    • America: Argentina, Belize, Bermuda, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Falland Islands, French Guiana, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, United States of America, Uruguay, Venezuela;
    • Africa: Botswana, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Comoro Islands, Egypt, eSwatini, Ethiopia, Gabon, Guinea-Bissau, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mayotte, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Reunion, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, St. Helena, Tanzania, Gambia, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

    In all these nations, those with Italian passports will be able to enter without any prior authorization and obtain a visa directly at customs after disembarking from the plane. Important to remember, however. This does not mean that you should not apply for any permission to travel, as for example, the American ESTA or similar solutions adopted by other nations.

    Italian passport: where a visa is required

    There are significantly fewer destinations that require a visa if in possession of an Italian passport. It is therefore very easy to plan one's vacation once this practice has been carried out. However, here are the cases that require travelers to apply for an access visa, which obviously has a limited time validity.

    Only Nauru requires one in all of Oceania. Two countries in the Middle East, however, do not automatically open their doors to Italians, namely Syria and Yemen. Room also for Europe on this list, with Azerbaijan and Russia. Controlled entry also in Cuba, the Caribbean, while in Asia the list is more substantial:

    • Afghanistan
    • Bhutan
    • China
    • India
    • Mongolia
    • North Korea
    • Turkmenistan

    In America there is only Suriname, while Africa boasts the largest list:

    • Algeria
    • Angola
    • Benin
    • Burundi
    • Cameroon
    • Central African Republic
    • Chad
    • Democratic Republic of the Congo
    • Republic of the Congo
    • Ivory Coast
    • Djibouti
    • Equatorial Guinea
    • Eritrea
