There are six Star Alliance lounges in the world, and this is the third one I visit. I have never yet been in a SkyTeam lounge, while One World is, of the three alliances, the only one that does not currently offer waiting rooms to members of the loyalty programs of its various companies.

In this article:

At the moment my personal ranking puts Los Angeles in first place and Rome on the third of three. The others I will try to visit in the near future are in London, Amsterdam, and Rio De Janeiro.

    Check compensation

Normally you would only get in if you fly with a Star Alliance carrier in business or have at least Gold status in one of the alliance airlines.

Did you get your flight cancelled, miss your connection, land late?

You could get up to 600€ compensation per person

However, the pandemic has changed business strategies a great deal, and, for example, Star Alliance has decided to open its lounges to all Priority Pass travelers. The companies also did the same, this is because in the end the important thing was to reduce losses as much as possible, so welcome, as in this case, a guest coming in because of the Priority Pass and to other cards such as Lounge Club, Lounge Key and Diners.

Of course, these rules can change, for example, in Rome, for the past few months, the rules have been back to the original ones.

The beauty of Priority Pass is that you can get it for free included in the Annual fee of many credit cards, obviously my favorite is the Amex Platinum, but also with the Gold card you get two free admissions per year.

    Location

Reading the information this lounge is located in terminal B, in fact though it is the same corridor as terminal C, so I don't think it makes much difference. Also by continuing the walk you should then arrive at terminal A, so this lounge is accessible to everyone

Like the other lounges, it is located on the second floor of the terminal. in front of Gate 9 at the Argentine capital airport. It shares the same area with American Airlines' Admirals Club and Latam's lounge.

    The lounge

What I like about these lounges is that they are linked together by aesthetic elements, specifically phrases on the walls of the lounges, and Buenos Aires is no exception.

I passed through this hall just before boarding my ITA Airways flight to Italy; all the major airlines fly from this stopover, so it is also very busy with Italians and Italo-Argentines heading to our country.

I must say that I liked the lounge right from the entrance, where there are "sotic" pieces such as an old sign, piles of pesos and other items from a world that is now gone.

The lounge does not have a view, or rather it has a partial view of the terminal, but it is nothing special, in any case thanks also to a very warm decor it is bright and cozy.

It is large enough to accommodate several passengers, certainly enough room for the current trades. There are different types of seats, not all of which have power outlets, but I must say that the look of some of the seats was really designer.

From lounge chairs to waiting room chairs, bar tables to camp-like armchairs. One was spoiled for choice. Of course, it is not as nice as the one in Los Angeles, however, it is definitely better than the one in Rome Fiumicino.

    Food & Beverage

Of the three lounges I visited it was the only one with an open buffet, as in the old days. There wasn't as much choice, but again it was the one of the three that offered the most variety to its guests.

The main buffet is immediately after the entrance and is divided on islands, all very neat and clean. You can clearly see that one of the engines behind these lounges is the Lufthansa Group.

I visited this lounge during breakfast hours, and the food offerings were adequate. Although it was only 9 a.m., the entire alcoholic offerings were also available: from the beer tap to the super spirits, nothing excluded.

There was also a second island for drinks, as you can see, even though it was early morning, bottles of wine and beer on display.

    In conclusion

The fact that it is open almost 24h is a huge plus. Especially in these uncertain times and suddenly cancelled flights. It certainly offers the best breakfast menu, it's just too bad that many power outlets are KO and not all seats have easy access to a place to recharge their devices.

    The verdict
Aesthetically it is better than the one in Rome and definitely worse than the one in Los Angeles. It is large and well appointed and offers a decent food selection. The fact that it allows access by priority pass gives it an extra half point in the overall rating
