In recent days, I had written about some news for users in possession of Flying Blue Ultimate status, now, however, for the first time Air France KLM has published the status in the card list, effectively making this level official at 100%.
Why this move by Air France KLM?
In this article:
I think it is clear that there is an attempt to Select a valuable slice of travelers and treat them much better, of how Platinum passengers are already treated. The way I think is to Have status and services comparable to what Lufthansa offers to HON Circle status holders.
To do this in recent months Flying Blue has made some changes to the rules for obtaining the card e also announced several advantages Compared to what was happening until now.
How to become Ultimate
To be eligible for the Ultimate card, one must first become Platinum, once you reach the highest milestone in the loyalty program you unlock the collection of UXP points. You need 900 UXP points over the 12-month qualifying period to gain status for 12 months. Until last year, the level was biennial, as was the qualifying period, and the number of UXPs required was 1800 points.
Did you get your flight cancelled, miss your connection, land late?
You could get up to 600€ compensation per person
What distinguishes UXPs from regular XPs, however, is that they accumulate only by flying Air France KLM, while the latter with all Skyteam carriers.
What are the privileges for those who obtain this card
For the first time, the Flying Blue frequent flyer program is putting privileges in black and white; some already existed such as reserved spaces in certain lounges and dedicated check-in desks. Now, however, everything is black and white. Here are some more significant new features:
Personal assistant, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Free upgrades, four vouchers per year of membership, valid for free upgrades on flights marketed and operated by Air France or KLM. Vouchers can also be shared with travel partners in the account profile.
Vouchers can be used for upgrades to one cabin (one voucher per upgrade) or upgrades to two cabins (two vouchers per upgrade). Once booked simply call your personal assistant to request to use the vouchers.
Gift Platinum status to a friend. Each year it will be possible to assign a traveler the Platinum card, the one that until recent days was the highest possible.
In conclusion
I imagine that sooner or later we will see an improvement in Ultimate benefits, but we have to see at what price. For example, to get LH's HON Circle card, only business and first flights apply, in return, however, you get access to First Class lounges and airport limousines on every flight. We will see what Flying Blue will do.
