It is called Oslo Moxy X, but it is different from all the other hotels in this chain

If you want to sleep and accumulate points (or sleep without paying) in Norway you don't have great opportunities, there are no Hilton hotels in the capital and the Moxy X is the only structure Marriott, on the contrary near the airport and (I think) even in the city there are several Radissons, but I would not be surprised since it is a local sign.
In this article:
Having to spend a night in Norway I opted for this hotel, definitely out of the way, but only chance to bring home two birds with one stone thanks to the current Marriott Bonvoy promo that was taken right on February 13..
Location
The hotel is in a middle ground. It is not located near Oslo-Gardermoen airport, which is Norway's main airport and Not to be confused with the other city airport. It is not even close to downtown or a lively area, but being connected to an immense convention center you can find it very, very, busy.
It is connected to the airport by Flybussen, the FR1 route stops right in front of the hotel, and the FR3 route 5 minutes by Uber, because given the weather and road conditions better not to opt for a walk.
Reservation
I booked through the app and paid cash for the simple reason that right now with the qualifying double nights promo you can accumulate two qualifying nights every night you actually stay in addition to 1000 Bonvoy points. Let's say the points are not a lot, but the double nights are a boon, however, if you stay with the points you do not get the bonuses.
The cost of the room was, for one night, about 2,000 Norwegian kroner. Not little, but considering that I caught a convention in the middle and that the hotel is completely sold out, it could have been much worse for me.
Check-in
As mentioned, we are in a convention center and the hotel is one with the rest of the location. Arriving, however, with a fairytale setting and still pale light made it much less traumatic.
Like all the Moxy where I've been, except one, the reception desk is incorporated inside the bar counter. I arrived, probably, at the time a coffee break from the event was starting because a stream of young people in "hockey-like" uniforms were crossing the bar heading toward the rooms.
Procedures hurried in a nanosecond, but in those few seconds I discovered that this Moxy has breakfast included in the rate and that I had received an upgrade. Something I think never happened in this chain and probably due to the fact that the guests are the conference participants, with no special status and no family in tow.
The "nicest" rooms in these hotels are family rooms, where four people can sleep.
The room
CVD my room was a family sleeper and not to miss anything also accessible, a way for the hotel to kill two birds with one stone. Amazingly this is the second time I have stayed in a Moxy in Norway (there are 3) and both times I ended up in an accessible room.
That then accessibility is evident only from the bathroom, let's say that for a person without walking problems it is not really the best. But for one night it's just fine.
Unlike the usual rooms in a Moxy so there are two rooms, a kind of Junior Suite. The bed, however, is still a queen and there is no topper, as per the specifications.
The second room is a small living room with a sofa and second smart TV, which obviously becomes a second bed if needed.
Bathroom being accessible is out of scale with respect to the usual Moxy rooms.
The room equipment is as usual meager, in this case even the wi-fi was far below average.
The hotel
As always, the heart of these hotels is what happens around the bar counter, but here there can be so much more because the facility is one with the convention center.
Basically, the reception area is the border that divides the sleeping area (classic Moxy hotel) from the event area, amphitheater, and convention rooms.
If there are no events you will probably not realize that we are in a hotel that is not the same as all other Moxy hotels, but if as happened to me there is a happening taking place it is a different story.
If I wanted to, I could have also crashed the soiree, but I didn't have the appropriate outfit for the gala.
So I grabbed a plate of nachos and a local beer and stood and watched the parade of participants go by.
Breakfast
Wake up early in the morning to experience the thrill of breakfast in a Moxy, something I hardly ever do.
And here the surprise was triggered. Logically having a potential influx of hundreds of simultaneous people, the solution adopted is to include breakfast in the room rate and enjoy a real breakfast, in the restaurant of the convention center.
Reaching the breakfast room, this one appropriate for a major influx, I was able to appreciate an offering worthy of a superior facility sold at 11€, considering that with Platinum status or higher you get 10$ credit you can almost totally cover the cost.
The offerings are plentiful, with attention to all possible diets and various dietary regimens.
Only downside is there is no option to have a latte or cappuccino, only black coffee.
In conclusion
Either eat this soup or jump out the window, meaning that if you are looking for a chain hotel the options are very few, especially for those aiming for Hilton or Marriott. The location is atypical, but in the end it is less than a 30-minute bus ride from the airport to the reception for a cost of €20, while a cab costs about €70.
